Super easy DIY redo project. I think I may even turn it into a coffee table! This was a super simple project that was so rewarding.  First I gave it a good cleaning, then I gave it a light sanding and I painted it in my favorite Behr black:  Black Suede.  After just a bit of  distressing, it was ready to go!  A quick cedar chest makeover can give you a whole new look.  This cedar chest would also make a great coffee table.  I didn’t touch the inside surfaces so I can still store woolens inside.

I just love the difference a coat of paint or stain can make!   Have you seen the makeover I did on an old wooden medicine cabinet I found at a salvage yard?  It’s pretty cool too!

  1. I like what you did with your cedar chest. I plan to move mine to our living room and add a cushion because it is also collecting junk and not being used the way it could be. Thanks for the inspiration and I like the distressing.

  2. Love it!!! You did a fantastic job! (love your dog too!) I just did a chest in white…I just have to roughen it up a bit…make it aged. I love changing old pieces of furniture!
